STEWARDSHIP - To nurture God's people into maturing stewards who
freely and joyfully manage all of life and life's resources for God's purposes.
The programs we have are:
-
Simply Giving - This program is an automated giving program from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans designed to help you conveniently and consistently contribute to a Lutheran congregation or institution or to pay tuition at a Lutheran School.
Through Simply Giving, your gifts or tuition payments are made through a pre-authorized withdrawal from you bank account.
You determine the frequency of your automatic gift - weekly, semi-monthly or monthly - the option is yours.
Your gift or payment is deposited into the recipient's bank account on the same day it is withdrawn from your account.
This is a reliable and safe way to move your stewardship plan into action.
There is more information on this program in the Narthex of Desert Foothills Lutheran Church or the Stewardship Chair will be glad to contact you.
-
Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center - DFLC is a regular supporter of the Foothills Food Bank & Resource Center, located in Cave Creek.
The purpose of the Food Bank is to collect and distribute food to needy individuals in the Foothills area.
In addition to food donations, the Food Bank receives financial contributions which enable assistance to be given to needy people in crisis situations (rent, medical bills, prescriptions, utility bills and other emergency needs).
If the Food Bank is not prepared to offer the help needed, referrals are provided to clients, helping them to secure the assistance required.
A number of area churches and schools, along with community businesses and organizations, support the Food Bank with food drives and fund-raisers.
DFLC conducts a monthly food drive on the 1st Sunday of each month.
In addition, we assist with special projects, such as providing toiletries to go along with Easter Baskets distributed to needy families, in an effort to brighten their holiday.
-
The Lutheran Church Extension Fund has developed the Kids Into Discipleship and Stewardship (K.I.D.S.) Stamp Program to help you teach young people about stewardship and investment.
This program provides a fun and exciting way to learn about discipleship, stewardship, and investing money, while helping to build God’s Kingdom at the same time.
We began this program on January 12th and have had great success. Look for our K.I.D.S. Stamp table in the Fellowship Hall every third Sunday of the month.
For more information on this program please leave a message at the church office for either Al Panhorst or Elaine Vallario.

Habitat for Humanity - Vision: To build decent affordable housing for deserving families who live/work in the Desert Foothills.
Members of Desert Foothills Lutheran Church work with and support this ministry.
An independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International founded in July, 2001.
The 1999 eviction of 12 families from their Cave Creek Casitas led to a community-wide assessment, which validated the need for affordable housing in the area.
There are more than 600 families in the Desert Foothills who qualify for a Habitat Home.
Arizona is the 17th most expensive market in the U.S., and an estimated 1.25 million Arizonans need affordable housing.
-
Since 2001, the organization has successfully built 22 homes in Cave Creek, creating a presence and public awareness greater than other Habitat affiliates of similar age.
These homes are 1,200 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths.
