LEARNING MODELS 2020-2021
We are excited to welcome our young students back to campus. It is our desire to be ON CAMPUS and make the experience as normal as possible for everyone. We continue to be humbled by the opportunity to serve our community and as always will actively be taking precautions to keep our students and teachers safe and healthy. There might be a time during the school year when we may pivot to REMOTE learning.
Here is a brief summary of what those two learning models may look like for our Preschoolers & Kindergarteners:
When Campus is OPEN
(2 day, 3 day, 4 day, or 5 day)

Parents are expected to keep children home when illness is suspected or confirmed – Will be required to sign daily log they took child’s temperature at home and was below 100.4º

On campus per enrolled class schedule - Traditional Preschool Hours (9am – 12pm)
Kindergarten (9am – 1pm)

Drop off // Pick up will take place outside the Preschool Building (details will follow)

Feasible physical distancing encouraged

Enhanced cleaning and safety protocols

Face coverings may be required for staff only, per city and county mandates

Classes stay together at recess

Students will attend Chapel either in classroom or in the Worship Center

Sharing of materials is minimized (each student will have their own class supplies)

All students must bring their snack from home along with a personal water bottle

“Drop in” Lunch Bunch will not be offered at beginning of school year & re-evaluated as year goes on.

Handwashing will be encouraged & prioritized // Hand sanitizing stations located in all classrooms
When Campus is CLOSED

At home learning when the campus is closed to students and staff.

Most similar to what was offered to preschool students from March 18-May 20, 2020. It includes developmentally appropriate learning packets, video lessons, and social emotional experiences with teachers.

For 2020-21, this model is enhanced based on best practices, including more synchronous learning opportunities and greater accountability for staff and students.

Desert Foothills Lutheran Preschool & Kindergarten is a warm and caring place where children observe and inquire, in order to make sense of their world. Our school uses the Core Knowledge Curriculum to promote intellectual and emotional growth. The staff provides a team approach which ensures that children finish our school ready for first grade.
